"My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth." Psalm 121:2
My paintings are balanced between figuration and abstraction: they suggest a presence of objects in space, but the nature of the objects is often uncertain. They are images of what is only vaguely remembered, or barely perceived. To me, painting is more than image making – it is about a vision of another reality: of fantasies and dreams, of the spiritual world, of the symbolic and the poetic.
At present I am exploring landscape and cityscape imagery and its symbolic and poetic possibilities, following the Romantic concept of “inner landscape”, or “moodscape”.
